==Installation=='''University of California at Berkeley established in 1868, Berkeley, California'''
On a colorful, crisp fall day, Zeta Gamma chapter was installed at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Centre College, founded in 1819, is a highly competitive, independent liberal arts college. The 75 acre campus is located in a rural community about 35 miles from Lexington.
Traditionally an all male school until the 1960's''Founded May 22, it now has six national male fraternities but until this year the women have had no organizations. Kappa together with Kappa Alpha Theta and Delta Delta Delta installed chapters on October 4, 1980, at Centre College. They even held a joint campus reception on Sunday, October 5th where all guests and new initiates of the three groups could join in the festivities. The installing officers were Fraternity President Sally Moore Nitschke, BN-Ohio State, and Director of Membership Juliana (J.J.) Fraser Wales, BN-Ohio State, with Nu Province Director of Chapters Cynthia McMillan Lanford, ΓΠ-Alabama, and Barbara Wooley, ΔΣ-Oklahoma State, graduate counselor assisting. (Betty Jane Parks Gary, ΔP-Mississippi, Nu Province Director of Alumnae was unable to attend because of illness in the family.) Gini Anding LaCharite, ΓK-Wm. & Mary, and Anne Hall Atchison, BX-Kentucky were co chairman of the installation. 1880; Closed Spring 1885'''
Kappas arrived from various points around the state of Kentucky and Tennessee, and representing Fraternity Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, were Dinnie Texter Callahan, BM-Colorado; Jane Coombs, ΔΛ-Miami; and Diane Miller Selby, BN-Ohio State. Beta Chi Chapter members served as big sisters for the new chapter.
The traditional ceremonies were held on Friday evening and the installation was accomplished by noon of Saturday followed by a box lunch for all participants in the dorm of Centre College. That evening the installation banquet was held in the Trustees' House of Shakertown in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky. This restored community added a most delightful flavor to the entire weekend ''Reinstated as the simple pleasures of friendship bloomed everywhere. The "Evening Fare" included Shaker mashed potato soupPi Deuteron on August 5, Cajun chicken, wild rice casserole, cushaw squash, southern green beans, pear and blue cheese salad, village hot breads, dessert and beverage—all served family style complete with candlelight in several small dining rooms. When dinner was completed a short walk down the old dirt pathway to the Shaker Meeting House was enjoyed by all. Once again candlelight prevailed as the evening1897'''s program centered on the theme “We Make You Kindly Welcome”.

Greetings from the college were offered by Dr. Edgar C. Rickert, Jr., Provost and Dean of Centre College. Sally Nitschke spoke for the Fraternity in greeting our l06th active chapter. Gifts were presented to the new chapter, but perhaps most special of all was the presentation of badges to each new initiate. The chapter was initiated with the big sister badges belonging to the Beta Chi members. These badges were worn throughout the day and at the conclusion of the evening program the new badges were exchanged for the big sister badges and many shiny new pins were glowing in the candlelight. A lovely reception was held for parents and guests in the West Family House.

==Highlights of 1980's==
In 1985 Zeta Gamma celebrated their fifth anniversary on October 5th. We decorated our room and it made it so much more attractive. We pledged 25 pledges making our chapter 58 women. We continue to strive for academic excellence and did receive recognition for our outstanding academic achievement.Our goal for this year was to improve our overall campus visibility. We feel we met this goal by being in many campus events and joining other groups for philanthropic programs.In 1987 we won the Scholarship and Membership awards at Nu Province Convention. We were excited to pledge 26 new pledges. Our traveling consultant was very helpful and after Province Convention our Fraternity President'''2, Marian Williams, spent two days with us! WE continue to be very active in campus events and believe we are a well-functioning chapter.785 initiates (as of June 2018)'''

==Highlights of 1990's==
The year 1990 marked our Tenth Anniversary of Zeta Gamma Chapter. We were proud to take a quota pledge class of outstanding women. We continue to work hard to maintain our diverse personality chapter while reaching out to our sisters and enjoying campus wide events and philanthropic endeavors. We worked to be the host of the Nu Province Convention in the Spring of 1991. WE welcomed advise and new ideas from two traveling consultants. We had a goal of increasing our involvement in philanthropic activities, alumni interaction and scholarship endeavors. We participated in serval philanthropy projects. We each wrote to a Zeta Gamma alumna about chapter news and we received first among all sororities in grades. We learned that sorority houses will be built starting in the Fall, 1993. Our chapter goal was to increase the ZG morale and involvement through chapter activities. We did not quite meet our goal but it was a great year. Every year we refined and continued our goal of improving chapter involvement, increase campus involvement and keep our excellent academic rating. We believe we are doing well with our goal. In 1994 we marked the opening of our beautiful new sorority house! We proudly welcomed twenty new pledges bringing our chapter total to eighty-one.
Our academic success found us with the highest all-sorority grade point average of 3.20. Due to this high average we were honored to be mentioned in The Key. In 1996 we welcomed our largest pledge class with 30 vibrant young women. Philanthropy was key this year with all events helping the Christian Children’s Home. We closed out this decade with being awarded the Overall Greek Week Winner. We were recognized for our community service and philanthropy projects with Kentucky School for the Deaf and special needs GS troop. Our most prestigious award and the one we are most proud, is the highest Greek Grade Point Average, along with the highest Sorority Grade Point average for Fall and Spring. We continued to increase chapter attendance at all meetings, activities and philanthropies.

The 2000’s should be remembered as one of the many achievements for Zeta Gamma. We were involved in campus and city-wide philanthropies. We also won many campus completions and were overall Greek Week winners. We maintained our excellent academic standing too. This year we found ourselves not making quota and some chapter dissensions. We each realized we had to take a more active role and we did and came together for a stronger chapter.
Zeta Gamma has always tried to be proactive in the campus community and has been recognized numerous times with campus awards such as Greek Woman of the Year, All Greek awards for excellence in scholarship and community service. We maintain our goal of academic excellence every year. When we recognize a problem, we address it and make it better. By giving members more individual responsibility, they feel more Kappa sisterhood and want to make the chapter the best it can be.
The women of Zeta Gamma are known for their wide interest and involvement. Kappa’s influence on Centre’s campus can be felt from the drama department to the chemistry lab. Our diversity is one of our greatest assets.

==Highlights of 2011==
This was the first year our chapter held the Date Auction for our campus. It was a huge success, in which we raised thousands of dollars for philanthropy. Due to how well it was received by the public, we plan to hold it again next year in the spring. One of our philanthropy events this past year was for the local humane society. It involved a lemonade stand, in which students that donated two dollars received cookies and lemonade. '''Additional Outstanding Pi Deuteron Alumnae'''
Earlier in the fallMaureen OrthJournalist, we hosted a BBQ for Books event. Students donated either five dollars or a children’s book. The books and the money raised benefited United Through Reading, a program that films soldiers overseas reading children’s books. The recordings are sent home to the soldiers’ families, so that their children can once again hear their mother or father read them a bedtime story. In the spring and fall we co-hosted a carnival for the children at Sunrise Children’s Services with the men of Sigma Chi. The carnival included games, food, caramel apple making, and a petting zoo sponsored by the humane society for the kids to enjoy. During Homecoming weekend, our standards committee hosted the sisterhood event Kappas at Keeneland for alumni as wells as current members. Vanity Fair correspondent (1993–present)
In AugustHelen Wills Roarke Professional tennis player, we sent one of our members, Hillary Botts, to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Leadership Academy. Once again we had Kappa Kristmas. We also hosted our annual formal in won the spring. On September 11thFrench Championships four times, the chapter wrote letters for soldiers, local veterans, and local firefighters to let them know that they are appreciatedU. At the end of the fall semester we hosted a fundraiser with the Tri Delta chapter on our campus for a local boy that was admitted to StS. Jude Hospital. One of our chapter’s alumniChampionships seven times, Annie Obrien, was featured in an article of the winter issue of The Key for her past involvement with Leadership Academy. In both the spring and the fall our chapter won 1st place in the campus dance competition, Air Guitar. In January 2011, Kappa Kappa Gamma placed 1st among the other sororities on campus in a dodgeball tournament that was hosted by the women of Alpha Delta Pi and the men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Wimbledon eight times
'''Campus:''' This past yearHazel Hotchkiss Wightman Professional tennis player, our campus has seen many new housing developmentswon the U.S. The ground breaking of our newest science building, Young Hall, took place Championships in the fall1909, and one of our chapter’s members1910, Annie Roessler1911, was asked to give the dedication speech at the ceremony. Two new fraternities were added to the current four that were already present on campus. Our chapter helped support and promote these two fraternities, Delta Kappa Epsilon and Beta Theta Pi, while they were getting accustomed to Greek life on campus. 1919
'''Chapter:''' In the spring we welcomed twenty-four new members to our chapter after formal recruitment. We also held fall recruitment this year and added two new members into our chapter. Our House Board purchased and installed a large flat screen television in the basement on behalf of the chapter. This has proven to be extremely helpful to our chapter, and has made all meetings proceed more smoothly. It has provided a way to enhance presentations because it is now possible to connect a computer to the screen.
Our chapter had a very small senior class this year, due to the unusual number of girls in that pledge class that had graduated early or transferred. As a result, we had many younger officers. Transitioning officers this year was very overwhelming, but we had a very competent junior class that helped in overcoming this challenge. Throughout the year we invited a series of Leadership Consultants to aid our officers in their new duties. Through great leadership, our philanthropy and service was extremely strong this year, and we had an amazing recruitment experience. Another big challenge our chapter faced this past year involved academics. Kappa Kappa Gamma ranked last in GPA among the four sororities present on our campus for the past two semesters. To remedy this, our chapter incorporated a series of academic programs this year in which we documented study hours for each class and reserved study rooms for our chapter.'''Historical excerpts:'''

'''Date Auction'''Benefiting Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters== The event was held at the Warehouse and was open to the entire campus. Local businesses and restaurants sponsored date packages for each of the 17 males being auctioned off for a date. This event was very popular and was a good opportunity for the community to come together to raise money for a good cause. Early Years ==
'''S'mores Event with Phi Delta Theta'''The event parent university of the California complex was held chartered by the state March 23, 1868. In 1880, at the Pearl fire pit for a bonfire with musictime of Pi’s founding, there were 213 men and 55 women student, and 36 on the faculty.The 1930 History of Kappa Kappa Gamma records that Pi was established by Grand Charter from Epsilon, May 22, s'mores1880, and friendsin the spring of 1885 it came to an end. Co-hosted Its five years of life were marked by KKG faculty and Phi Delta Thetaadministration opposition; some lack of chapter harmony; difficulty in finding members among the few women enrolled; and complete isolation from other members and chapters of the Fraternity, as well as Fraternity officers.Before the event charter was open to all given up, and “reluctantly accepted” by the Council, 24 members had been initiated.The chapter had been founded in an unorthodox fashion. Anna Long (Brehm) and Ella Bailey (Bruns), after a skim through of Baird’s Manual, applied to Kappa Alpha Theta for a charter which the campus Thetas refused to grant to provide a study break group with fewer than six members. The two girls acquired another foursome and opportunity then, after talking things over with some fraternity men, decided that a Kappa charter was what they wanted. The Theta charter was left in the express officer for two weeks before it was returned. Then they applied for a Kappa Charter.As if to contradict the impression that fraternity men had anything to spend do with their decision, Pi’s January, 1882, letter to The Key insisted, “We were aided by no counsels and urged forward by no promptings.” The letter reported proudly that on June 2, 1880, the key was worn for the first time with friendsin California; that two seniors had been graduated; and that the four remaining members found themselves facing “strong, steady, quiet opposition.”The Golden Key of January, 1884, carried the only other Pi letter. The chapter sent greetings to all other chapters and expressed “wishes she could know them better.” Better? Pi knew only Pi! The annual banquet had been held; Flora Beal had been chosen class essayist; and the first Pi wedding had been celebrated between Sarah Ellery and Fred Ostrander.Although the ingredients were always available, it was more than twelve years later that a second Pi was put on the Berkeley campus.
'''Formal'''
The event was held at the Danville Country Club and had a Derby theme. A photo booth with Derby hats and other props was set up for pictures. A variety of appetizer food was served as attendents enjoyed a wonderful evening of food, dance, and friendship.
== '''Lemonade, Brownies, and Puppy boothPi Deuteron Chapter'''Benefitting Organization: Centre and Danville CommunityThe event was hosted by SGA in honor of Centre College hosting the Vice Presidential debate this fall. The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Delta Pi, and Kappa Alpha Theta, all participated by having a booth with free lemonade, brownies, iced tea, and patriotic puppies from the local humane society. In preparation for this event we had members from all of the sororities get involved by making gallons of iced tea and lemonade, baking hundreds of brownies, and help wash and transport puppies from DBCHS.==
'''Sunrise Carnival'''Benefitting Organization: Sunrise Children’s ServicesFor Paradoxically the Kappa Alpha Theta charter, which had gathered dust in the third year express office in 1880 when “Old Pi” was founded, returned to the Berkeley campus and was put to use seven years before Pi Deuteron was installed. It was 1893 when a rowgroup decided to apply for a Kappa charter and was approved by Beta Eta at Stanford University as well as original Pi members, only to discover that another group already applied. The second group persisted in its efforts, however, because of its Kappa sponsorship. While they waited, we cohosted the Sunrise Carnival with girls formed a local society, called “Sorosis,” under the men patronage of Sigma Chithe San Francisco Sorosis in 1894. We had face paintingGrand Council was not eager to grant the new charter, a petting zoo (thinking of convention expenses connected with puppies from far away California, and the former prejudices on the Danville-Boyle County Humane Societycampus. In 1895 Bertha Richmond (Chevalier), volleyballΦ—Boston, grand secretary, wrote: “I feel that the increase in numbers would not add materially if at all to the strength of the Fraternity…I think that the Fraternity cannot afford another chapter in the Far West.”Two years later, cornholeas grand president, she reversed herself with, “I think that our Fraternity is neither so large, nor so strong, that it could not be benefited by the addition of a pie-eating contestnew strong chapter.”The installation and initiation provided joyous ceremonies for members of the first Pi, ring tossfor sponsoring actives from Stanford, bowlingand for the charter members who had made Sorosis strong. Music by Schumann backed up the service which was conducted by Annabel Collins (Coe), cupcake decoratingBZ—Iowa, a gumball guessing gamegrand treasurer. Visitors, having been feted and soccertaken up Mt. Tamalpais, were still surprised by the zeal of the rushing season in Berkeley, without the benefit of Panhellenic contract. In October, 1897, The director Key placed the good news of the reestablishment on its first page, and mentioned the University of Sunrise was extremely appreciative California at Berkeley as “the greatest conservative college of our continued supportthe west. He In honesty, The Key mentioned that most the nine college buildings on the beautiful site were “nothing of which to boast,” but then the boys do not get author, Mary Bell (Morwood), went on to leave boast of the 35 marble and stone buildings near completion and of the facility philanthropic woman, Mrs. Phoebe Hearst, who had just been added to do fun activitiesthe Board of Regents, who had established so the fact that we brought the carnival many scholarships, and “who is about to them really meant give a lot large proportion of her fortune to us.”Students used the childrenferry to come over from San Francisco; other students lived in boarding and fraternity houses. It was easy to place the men students in their class rank. Freshman carried new equipment; sophomores swung their canes; juniors wore battered white plug hats decorated with class and fraternity symbols; and the black silk hats of the seniors looked like “worn out accordions.” They were often handed down from one class to the next.Women’s dress was less distinctive. In the beginning they had worn their mortar boards after their freshman year, but in 1897 this was outmoded. Some social events also very important that we teamed up were considered old fashioned. At the senior ball, which was still popular, the girls dressed in calling costumes and hats and danced only with “a few favored friends.” YMCA and the YWCA (a Pi member was a founder) were strong on campus. There was still feeling about coeducation, but popular girls could receive a fellow fraternity because it gave number of invitations to men’s fraternities on class day. White duck trousers and organdy dresses were everywhere and later there would be a chance general visit to Co-Ed Canyon for extemporaneous entertainment, then dinner and a glee club concert. Graduation was a let-down after the excitement of class day.There was a marked difference between Stanford and the University of California. One was built on science and the boys at Sunrise other on the classic tradition, where Latin and Greek were common prerequisites and examinations were becoming more and more rigid. The women of Berkeley had been wearing their hats and gloves to interact with older guys that class for 25 years—“as if they were visitors.” The Stanford girls were much amused. The Berkely girls could serve relax only in the gymnasium or the ladies room.In spite of their conservatism the Kappas of Pi Deuteron held important positions on the campus. And they had a three story house, owned by the patroness, the mother of a member. The house was known for two outstanding features, named for Sorosis members who did not live to see Kappa’s reinstatement: the Alice Dewey Michaels Memorial Library and the Mabel Worthington Sullivan Memorial Art Collection. During their first term as good role models a chapter a reception was given for themMrs. Hearst, and two members organized Prytanean, the women’s honor society.
'''Homecoming'''
Description of Event: This is an annual homecoming festivity for our alumni and actives. Food and drinks (non-alcoholic) are provided and active and alumni can mingle throughout the house with sisters. Tours of the house are given to older alumni who graduated before Kappa had a house, and all sisters participate in a short ritual ceremony at the beginning of the gathering. We even decorated the house with individual pictures and chapter portraits that have been taken over the years since the founding of our chapter!

'''Krafts with Kappas'''Benefitting OrganizationOn April 18, 1906, at 5: Toliver13 a.m. the locks and life of college, Hogsettchapter, and Jennie Rogershomes stopped short. San Franscisco was hit by an earthquake and fire. Students, released from classes, were active in relief work. This work continued into the summer, although the senior class came back for “quiet graduation exercises.”Not Many chapter members lived at home and only a few lived in the house on Fulton Street. There was one move after another during the early years. One year there were no seniors; factions developed; scholarship and participation went down, although there were always a few outstanding members. Pi was this lucky, too, in Kappa visitor and affiliates, girls like Cleora Wheeler, X—Minnesota, who was “like a recruitment eventchapter sister, it ” and Almira Johnson (McNaboe), H—Wisconsin, who many years later became a Fraternity vice president.In 1912 a move was made to 2725 Channing Way, Pi’s own house at last. It was the beginning of a turn for the better. Now there was harmony, unity, and accomplishment.The 1920s were great years. The isolation of the early Pi was a thing of the past, distances were overcome. In 1925, 10 members went to Los Angeles to help install Gamma Xi.Fraternity officers came from Pi regularly; Elizabeth Gray Potter was editor of The Key 1906-1910. She was also helped serve our the librarian at Mills College and author of two books on San Francisco. Eva Powell and Eleanor V.V. Bennet were grand presidents and there were many province officers. Irene Hazard Gerlinger became a regent of the University of Oregon (1914-1929) and the women’s building there was named in her honor.Two members of Pi Deuteron were known the world over, and both were in the same field. One was Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman, born in 1887 of pioneer California stock. She was a national philanthropy: Reading is Fundamental. RIF is tennis champion, donor of the nation’s oldest Wightman Cup and largest nonprofit children’s literacy organizationseveral times captain of the team, author, and it became Kappa Achievement Award winner in 1947. The other was the Kappa Gamma’s National Philanthropy she coached so successfully, Helen Wills Moody, Roarke, who won Kappa’s Achievement Award in 20041960. RIF’s highest priority is reaching undeserved children Together they won two Wightman Cup doubles matched, two U.S. championships, the tennis championship at Wimbledon, and an all-England championship at Wimbledon. Helen Wills won the American championship each year from 1923-29 except 1926 when she didn’t compete, and the Wimbledon title eight times. She wore white stockings in England because Queen Mary hated bare legs.Much to the pleasure of California Kappas, the 1926 Convention took place at Mills College in Oakland. Nearly 700 attended the convention and those arriving on the special train from birth Chicago were given baskets of fruit and flowers as the train passed through Sacramento. Pi’s Myrtle Sims Hamilton handled the funds so that well more than $600 was turned over to age 8the Fraternity Endowment Fund at the end of convention. In 1925, at the spirit time of RIFthe installation of Gamma Xi, we decorated pet rocksthere was an informal conference of the three California chapters, but the first real province convention was not until 1929 at Stanford.In 1929, friendship braceletsthe chapter house was remodeled and refurnished downstairs. It was renovated and browna two-bag character puppets to donate to story wing added.In 1958, the Chicago Tribune announced that as the result of a survey, the Berkeley campus was rated as one of the most distinguished in the local elementary schools nation. A report in The Key, Mid-Winter, 1960 stated, “The student at Berkely has an ever-expanding, almost unlimited field of endeavor.” Said Tracy Innes (ToliverStephenson) and Louise Dunlap, HogsettPi actives and authors of the article, “A new student can be overwhelmed by the size and Jennie Rogersbeauty of campus…To be a student (here)is a wonderful privilege. It was not possible to obtain any history of Pi Deuteron after 1960. Afterwards we even got to witness the firefighters take ==Pi was granted a distress call charter in 1880 and zoom out in their fire trucks with their sirensclosed by 1885.
'''Humane Society Test Drive Fundraiser'''Saturday October 27th at the Stuart Powell Ford car dealershipBenefitting Organization: Danville Boyle County Humane SocietyThe DBCHS contacted us to let our chapter know about this great opportunity for them to raise money. By testPi Deuteron was re-driving installed in 1897 and they had a car for only 10 minutesthree story house on Fulton Street that housed four members, owned by Mrs. Rising, we could raise each individually raise $20 for the humane society. If we brought a partner to share half mother of the test drive we could even raise $40! Even though this was only an optional event, in total, our support helped raise $180 for DBCHSmembers Alice Rising and Ruth Rising.
One of the most important changes our campus went through in In the fall January 1898 issue of 2012 was hosting the 2012 Vice Presidential Debate. To prepareThe Key, our campus spruced up and in the weeks prior to the event set up security measures and made accomodations for the media.The “Thrill corresponding wrote in the Ville II” offered an opportunity for Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan to address questions on a range of domestic and international issues posed by moderator Martha Raddatz of ABC News. The 2012 VP Debate was the third-most watched debate with 51.4 million viewers. This rocketed our campus's recognition to a global scaleher chapter letter “our chapter house is well established.

'''AWARDS:'''Jeanne Ley she said when she pledged as a freshman the house was on Channing then moved the following year to Piedmont. According to Jeanne, the house originally was a "lovely shingled and traditional Julia Morgan home", then they added the "hospital wing with that ugly grey floor, and sprayed cement over the beautiful shingles!"....evidently the remodel was not very popular. Until the remodel the girls all had meals at the I-House since there was no large kitchen or dining room. For the remodel the house was raised, the chapter room, dining room and kitchen added as the ground floor, and the entire structure moved forward on the lot to create the back courtyard. Jeanne said she remembers them doing all this from Christmas through the summer, and the girls moved back to Kappa in the fall!

EVENTS:The chapter succesfully upheld its founding principles during this ten year period. The members of Kappa Kappa Gamma were extremely busy with academics, sports, internships, and jobs, while at the same time made tiume for social activities including the annual ATO picnic and father daughter dance. During this time period many intelligent, dedicated, outgoing, amazing members encouraged one another and motivated each other to work towards the Fraternity's potential.
Much needed improvemnts to the house were made thanks to those who supported the Fire Sprinkler Campaign and to the careful management of our capital improvement's budget. These improvements included installation of fire-safe floors, bedrooms and halls were painted and recarpeted, the House Director''Spring 2013'''s apartment was expanded and refurbished, and the attic storage space was rennovated to provide a better study space for the girls. We also succesfully satisfied each area in "The Challenge to Excellence" that was issued by the Regional Directors of Kappa to assist in smoothly operating each chapter.
Canned Food Drive==Pi Deuteron - Celebrates Their Centennial==February 10From the first notification of the upcoming birthday, 2013 at to the Kappa Kappa Gamma HouseBenefitting Organization: Harvesting Hope Food PantryWe often see canned food drives around holiday seasons. It is rare that we don’t donate items during the holidays of Thanksgiving or Christmas. Howeverlast tearful goodbyes on May 22, during non-holiday months1980, donations lack. Our chapter felt that it was important to give in a time that perhaps other people had stopped giving in order to keep Harvesting Hope Food Pantry thriving. Service Event at Central Kentucky Wildlife RefugeThis past year we have been working on five goals as a chapter council. Our first focus was to make standards more welcoming and have more of a positive presence. To do this, we made the standards room a more welcoming environment, we had standards do a programming to go over procedure, and they worked to be more transparent throughout the semester. The next obstacle we wanted to tackle was the lack of emphasis on ritual in the house. We had monthly ritual reviews, started meetings with an inspirational quote or a piece of Kappa history, and held special ritual reviews for the newest initiated pledge class. Our third goal was to make pre-recruitment work week more effective and enjoyable. We decided to hold two pre-recruitment meetings during the Spring to learn the recruitment songs, we created MVPs of the day and gave out prizes to those who were positive and working hard during work week and we decided not to move on to another song or dance until we knew the one we were previously working on. Next, we wanted to work on getting the house more involved on campus. We started spotlighting a member of the house each week for their accomplishments and involvement, we listed the philanthropies other houses were hosting a month in advance and created a list of what different clubs girls in the house are involved in. Finally, we decided we wanted to work as a chapter council to lead by example and be effective and efficient. To do this, we worked on communicating everything we were working on during Chapter Council meetings, we encouraged the house to be more involved and worked hard to help one another whenever we could.

Our chapter chooses to support Reading is Fundamental is the Center for Courageous Kids because we believe they are motivation behind a majority of our events. Kappa Karaoke is an organization that provides great services event dedicated to raising money for children with illnessesthis cause, and it is our largest philanthropy event of the year. ==Highlights 2016 has been a year of 2016==growth and expansion for the Pi Deuteron chapter. Our new members, as they do each year, added diversity in experiences, backgrounds and personality to our chapter. A main goal for this years’ chapter council was to increase chapter awareness of Pi Deuteron history and ritual. Both the Marshal and Registrar worked together to engage members in our history. At each Monday night, we made it a goal to share a scrapbook with the chapter, as well as give a brief comment about the time period each scrap book was created in. The goal was to share chapter history as well as bridge the past and present, showing that Kappa ideals, goals and values have been sustained and consistent throughout history.

==Highlights of 2017=='''Where does the chapter meet?'''
Because of a focus letter read to us at the beginning of the school semester, the Zeta Gamma chapter has faced a lot of incoming deadlines. As The Chapter meets in a result, many events have been made obligatory, and standards council was notified room in our house that many sisters felt they were attending events not because they wanted to, but because they had to. Our chapter council jumped to fix this issue as we became fearful that Kappa would soom become a chore for many instead of a passion or enjoyment. The VP of Standards has created new sisterhood events, from Planner Parties with free succulents to an Ugly Mug exchange to Warm and Fuzzy games to help with these concerns. Through several chapter surveys conducted, moral has seemed to increase due to these activitiescall the "Chapter Room."
-------------------------------'''Note to Chapter Registrar:'''Please refer to your chapter archives including chapter meeting minutes and back issues of ''The Zeta Gamma chapter has struggled over the last few years trying Key'' to find an efficient philanthropy event, and for the first time fill in spring of 2017, Zeta Gamma put on their first Kapparoni and Cheese event. This event was continued any gaps in the fall of 2017, raising a successful $1,757above historical highlights.60 with the selling of more than 250 tickets on campus. In addition, Zeta Gamma continued their philanthropy collaboration with the Episilon If your chapter of Beta Theta Pi at Centre Collegearchives are not complete, raising an additional $4please research your university library,435. This puts the total campus newspaper and yearbook archives for the semester at $6,192newsworthy information about your chapter.60. All proceeds were donated to Center Please double check your work for Courageous Kids (our local charity) in Scottsville, Kentuckyaccuracy. The philantropy chair also held the Contact chapter service event at the Advisory or House Board members, local library in DanvilleAlumnae Association members, Kentucky where sisters cleaned the yard, shelved books, and cleaned shelves as well as many events with the After School Program, a campus organization where students tutored or mentored elementary kids. On March 8th, sisters and people invited from other organizations including other sororities, STAND, and Alpha Phi Omega (the latter two being service-oriented organizations on campus) participated in a Center your Province Director of Chapters for Courageous Kids weekend where students hung out and helped families with special needs children as they enjoyed their weekends at the centerassistance. Philanthropy chair also instituted Your efforts will ensure a new pen pals program between sisters complete and elementary kids from Tolliver Elementary.accurate history of your chapter for future generations to enjoy!
In addition, another chapter goal was to improve sisters' relations with their professors. VP of Academic Excellence decided to revive our annual FaculTea party that had failed a few years back. Sisters were encouraged to each personally invite their favorite professors, and all professors invited were presented with a certificate for their wonderful teaching and mentorship. Sisters hosted and conversated with teachers at the party, and professors made comments about the high impression Kappas were making in inviting professors into their home and taking the time to get to know them.
The Zeta Gamma chapter also brought many social events into the Kappa atmosphere where sisters and non-sisters were able to enjoy each other's company. Event chair successfully put on events such as Mocktails, a Kappa Krush, a cookout mixer with the Delta chapter of Phi Tau Kappa, and a semi-formal held at the local art center.On Founders Day, the Registrar, Marshall, and Education chair collaborated to create a fun Founders Day celebration. Before ritual, the chapter participated in a fun chapter history Jeopardy game where the winning team was raffled for a prize. The Founders Day celebration ended with cake, ice cream, and cookies.  On Homecoming day, an alumnae notified us that a fellow sister of hers had recently passed away, and she passed on her Kappa artifacts to us. We set up a small memorial table to her where alumni came to pay their respects. In addition, an email was sent out to alumni asking for old pictures to share with our chapter on Founders Day, and many were still being sent after Founders Day. These pictures sent after were used to decorate some of the house and celebrate our alumni and history.  As a closing point to all these accomplishments, the Zeta Gamma chapter received many awards in the past year at the annual Greek Awards ceremony on campus, including best dedication to risk management, community service collaboration, and best female athlete.  Due to a lack of diversity on campus, Centre College has established new diversity initiatives that have included Greek life, a major foundational point in Centre's lack of diversity. The Zeta Gamma chapter has responded by creating a new officer position, Diversity chair, who acts as a liason between the campus' Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity Initiatives, our sisters, and other Greek chapters and informs the chapter of diversity events and issues as necessary. Also, Greek life has recently been informed of a new policy change that may introduce fines for dress code in public Greek events. Zeta Gamma's PHC delegates have rallied with other chapters in petitioning against this policy, resulting in a delay of voting of this policy until the spring of 2018. Overall, the Zeta Gamma chapter has experienced days of extreme togetherness in fighting these issues as well as new philanthropic, academic, and social events that have pushed our traditional boundaries to increase effectiveness and campus involvement. The chapter is strong in our passion to improve but recognizes its problems in sisterhood and time management.  The Zeta Gamma chapter traditionally raises money and sends sisters to weekend retreats for Center for Courageous Kids (CCK). In addition to the money and hours donated to CCK, Zeta Gamma also works with the After School Program on campus, reads to Tolliver Elementary school for RIF on National Reading Day, and conducts several programs with Tolliver Elementary including a monthly pen pals writing.  The Center for Courageous Kids has an amazing goal of providing a fun weekend away for special needs kids and their families where the staff are trained to handle special needs. They have always been gracious to the Zeta Gamma chapter for our help, and there has always been an overwhelming chapter support of this organization. The After School Program is a program that the Zeta Gamma chapter has had sisters involved in, and sisters have also always interacted with Tolliver Elementary in various other campus organizations. It only made sense that since we already had those connections and bonds, we should bring the whole chapter into involvement too. --
