Changes

(Information from In January 2014, we began Winter Term by welcoming eight new members into Eta Kappa through formal recruitment, “Winter Wonderland.” Rearranging recruitment to end on a Sunday due to the Polar Vortex, Eta Kappa revamped Bid Night by establishing a Bid Day Buddies system to welcome our new members. During the month of February, Eta Kappa hosted its annual Semi-Formal at the local Cherry St. restaurant. Following Semi-Formal, Eta Kappa hosted their annual Reading is Key event surrounding the theme, “Reading is Wild.” During the month of March, Panhellenic Council hosted its first annual wellness week, including a clothing swap connecting with other sororities. Just before Spring Break, we initiated eight new members, some of whom were immediately elected onto Chapter Council the following day. In April, our incoming 2014-15 Chapter Council started spring term participating in a weekend of bonding and training at our annual Kappa Kabin hosted at Stephanie Bailey’s cabin in Peoria. That following weekend, Eta Kappa hosted information recruitment, “Spring into Kappa,” welcoming three additional sisters to the chapter history reports. During the month of April, the Alpha Deuteron Chapter of Monmouth College hosted Eta Kappa for its Love & Loyalty Tea. At the end of April, scholarshipEta Kappa participated in the Knox campus’s annual Greek Week titled, group honors/awards“Greek TV” which they competed against other Greek-letter organizations in fun bonding activities. Along, with Greek Week, the standards committee surprised the chapter with a secret standards field trip hosted at Lake Storey were sisters cooked hamburgers, played games, and enjoyed the lake. During the month of May, Eta Kappa hosted its annual Formal event hosted at Cherry St. restaurant. Also in May Eta Kappa held its annual Academic Excellence banquet in the Common Room located the academic building Old Main. Towards the end of spring term, Eta Kappa initiated 3 new members, and said goodbye to 9 strong and capable graduating seniors.  Returning to Knox in September, Eta Kappa geared the term towards building sisterhood and friendship. In October, Eta Kappa hosted their annual Homecoming event, traditionshaving an open house for graduated alumni to come and chat with active members. Following Homecoming Weekend, special eventsEta Kappa hosted its fall fundraiser, changes Save-A-Heart whose proceeds benefitted the American Heart Association. During the month of October, Knox’s Panhellenic Council hosted a Wellness Week in which sororities on campus or within participated in yoga and desserts. At the end of October, Eta Kappa participated in Sigma Chi’s annual Derby Days, which included pumpkin carving and a talent show with all proceeds benefitting Safe Harbor. Also, in October Eta Kappa collaborated with the Tri Delta Chapter of Knox College hosting a pot-lock dessert event playing games and bonding. The year 2014 was an exciting time for Eta Kappa to grow as a chapter.  During the year of 2014, overall nature the Knox College campus for the first time in 20 years opened the doors of Alumni Hall to faculty and staff since its closing. In the Eta Kappa Chapter it consist of 34 members in 2014 and is ingrained in the Knox community.  Eta Kappa Chapter host chaptermeetings in the designated Kappa House at 320 W. Brooks St. each Sunday. The Chapter house is owned by Knox College and in addition does not provide housing/lodging or classroom space. The Kappa House is open between the hours of 8:00AM- 11:00PM for members of Eta Kappa to come as an open space for homework, chapter goalscooking, or meetings.  In terms of the housing of Eta Kappa Chapter, challenges the Kappa Kappa Gamma house is owned by Knox College and how is not a facility used for housing. Members have the opportunity to live together in dormitory spaces across campus if they were overcomeso choose; however, etcit is not connected to the Eta Kappa chapter in any way.)
