==Highlights of 2016==
For 2016 was a very exciting and eventful year for the Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma! This year 2016, Eta Kappa has evolved and grownChapter was especially strong in regards to academics. We moved up in the GPA rankings from ninth place all the way to fourth place! Additionally, and continued a tradition one of leadership. In January, we held formal Panhellenic Recruitment. Thanks our New Members was selected to receive the dedication of our Membership Chair and her committeeNew Member Panhellenic Scholarship, so we met quota. We were also able so excited to add another new member through COB immediately following bid day. We welcomed 9 new members see our sister win! Our chapter still continues to Eta Kappa as our Winter Formal classparticipate in "Letters at the Library, " the same size for a new member class that we had in 2015. During Recruitment, we had our LC Ariel there weekly Greek-wide event held to help us outpromote academic excellence within the Greek community. She was very helpful as we worked to make sure all chapter members understood We also participated in many fun sisterhood events throughout the procedures for voting during Recruitmentyear. During FebruaryWe started "Cookie Mondays," a sisterhood event where girls could stay after chapter, eat cookies, Eta Kappa joined Nationals to hold Academic Excellence Month. Every member competed to earn points by sending pictures of themselves studying to their academic liaisons. A lot of members became very involved and chat with it and it was great PR for Kappa on campusother sisters. The spirit One of competition was fun, but it’s rewarding to see the growth in study habits that our VPAE chapter goals was able to foster. We also raised funds for better promote the history of Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation through our annual event, Kappa Krush, where and we table to have students addressed this goal by bringing up old pictures and faculty send cans of Krush Soda archives to friends display during chapter as well as implementing a time capsule for the week leading up New Members that they can recover after they graduate. Another chapter goal was to Valentine’s turn Founder's Dayinto a bigger and more recognizable event. We raised over $100 for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. Our annual Semi-Formal dance This year, Founder's Day was also held in February hosted at Iron Spike; it was Blackhawk Country Club and turned out to be a fun and safe very successful event for all the Kappa’s and their dates. This past fall, Eta Chapter initiated 52 outstanding women! We held an excellent recruitment this year and were thrilled to welcome our wonderful New Members. In March, we ended Our New Member Chair did an excellent job of educating these New Members on both the term opportunities available in full force with Kappa as well as Greek life as a whole. All New Members were required to attend an alcohol and sexual assault seminar hosted by the initiation of Greek community, which benefits our new members, chapter immensely. Another big change that Eta Chapter underwent was transitioning house-moms after having our annual Reading previous house-mom for over 15 years. Throughout In the termspring, we participated in various events that we have a tradition of being a part of such as Greek Weekexecuted our annual philanthropy, Alpha Phi Omega’s Walk-Hoops for Hope. This event is a-Thon, 3 on 3 basketball tournament and Tri Delta’s Kickball all proceeds go to the UW Children's Hospital. Not only does this event raise money for St Judethe Children's. We also held an informal recruitment eventHospital, and we were able but it is a nice opportunity to get 4 new many members, which brought us of Greek life together to totalsupport a common cause. We This fall we held our initiation at the end of our Spring Term second annual "Grabba Grabba Pizza" philanthropy to bring benefit our chapter to 40 members right before our senior class graduatednational philanthropy, Reading Is Fundamental. Over the summer, our VP Standards represented us at Convention in San Diego, CA. This was the first time in recent memory that Eta Kappa has been the biggest sorority at Knox. Since we did not have new members, our focus has been on improving chapter support State Street and bonding as a whole group so we can successfully welcome new members in January. Our diversity chairman has put together many events sold slices of pizza to help us foster a better understanding of each otherthose walking by. Our chapter also championed Unfortunately, a major philanthropic event for the second time called thunderstorm led us to cancel the Kappa Kolor Run! Our Philanthropy chairman worked tirelessly to create a fun event that was accessible to our entire campus. We one hour earlier than expected, but we still were able to raise over $430 dollars for the Alzheimer’s Association1,000 to donate to Reading Is Fundamental. We selected this philanthropy because two Both of our members have a grandmother who is dealing with alzheimer’s these philanthropies were incredibly successful and we always choose a philanthropy that is near and dear to our members. We are there hoping for each other continued success in the years to lift one another up and make the world a better placecome. We wrapped up Our chapter continues to support organizations within our fall term with some membership workshops community such as the UW Children’s Hospital, River Food Pantry, First Harvest Food Bank and the selection Boys and Girls Club of day chairs for recruitment so that we can go all out when we return to campus in January for Formal RecruitmentDane County. Our chapter has also been very active chooses to support these organizations because we want to support organizations within the Greek our community and see our communitythrive. Currently, we Our philanthropies are the most represented organization in Order of Omega, a National Greek Honor Society in which one of our sisters, Allie Whitehill, is great opportunity to give back to the Vice Presidentcommunity and help those around us.. Eta Kappa prides itself on We love being very well represented on Panhellenic Council as well. Junior Maggie Brick is able to see the Vice President effects of Panhellenic Council our service and served as the interim President philanthropies in the Spring of 2016. Six of our sisters were a part of the Women’s Soccer team that went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. We were all so proud to cheer them all on in their historic run to an undefeated conference seasoncommunity.
