Our 2013 chapter president, Maggie Stewart wears her grandmother, Patricia Crane Mason's badge. She pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma at LSU on March 3rd, 1956. Her badge is stunning, adorned with sapphires and pearls. On the back, her name is engraved along with the Delta Iota Greek symbols and 3-3-56. Her two older sisters, Elaine and Sarah Stewart both wore the pin before her. In 1957, her grandmother wore her pin when she was elected and installed as the chapter president as a mere sophomore. Maggie feels so lucky to not only share the Kappa experience and badge with her grandmother, but they also share the honor of being a Delta Iota president. Maggie’s grandmother was the very first person Maggie told when she was elected, and her grandmother could not be prouder!
==Highlights of 2015==
The Delta Iota chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at LSU has participated in many campus wide and Greek events. Some of these events included Lambda Chi Beach Bash, Sigma CaNU, Sigma Phi Epsilon Schoolyard Scramble, Pi Kappa Alpha’s Capture the Flag, LSU Greekwide Songfest, and Stepshow. Delta Iota also supported the philanthropies of other chapters on campus including Tri Delta’s Desserts to benefit St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and Theta Xi’s blood drive. We also put on our own blood drive with Sigma Nu.
We also competed in many athletic events, such as intramural kickball and soccer, and were very successful in both. Besides all of our campus involvements, the Delta Iota chapter has continued its tradition on emphasizing the importance of philanthropy. Kappa hosted Kappa Klassic this past Fall of 2015, raising around $66,000, and $70,000 for St. Jude's Children's Hospital Dream Day Foundation. Members of our chapter will get to see our hard work paid off by attending the dream day event in the spring, where patients spent a fun-filled, carnival-themed day in Baton Rouge. We also put on a silent auction for the Kappa Foundation in the Fall of 2015 while raising $14,000. Delta Iota hosted our fifth annual Kappa Krawfish Panhellenic event, where we raised $21,000 for our other philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental, by providing crawfish and live music.
With around 300 members total as of our Fall 2015 recruitment, Delta Iota has been growing and excelling at LSU. Our members are required to be involved in other organizations and/or volunteer work. Some members volunteer at hospitals or the animal shelter, while others are involved in the Tiger Athletic Foundation or spend their time tutoring. Delta Iota also participated in Greek Week at LSU, which is a week dedicated to Habitat for Humanity, where every chapter raises money and then comes together to build two houses for the less fortunate in Baton Rouge. Kappa won numerous awards including Outstanding Chapter for Order of Omega and 2015 Volunteer of the Year along with one of our members, Nicole De la Fuente, was recognized as the PHC Philanthropist of the Year. This past year has been an exciting year for the Delta Iota chapter and we look forward to another fantastic year.
Louisiana State University has reached their goal of becoming nationally recognized; it has been ranked as a top tier university on the national rank. The University has made long term investments in enhancement including expansion to the Business Education Complex, a new band hall, construction and betterment of new and existing dorms, amplification of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, and the most exciting, a brand new Barnes and Noble bookstore on campus with a large parking garage.
Down Sorority Row, we are very busy getting ready to welcome the addition of a new chapter, Alpha Delta Pi, to Greek life in Fall 2016. They will participate in recruit during Fall 2016. We are very excited about having them on the row! Alpha Phi will also be moving into a brand new house in Fall 2016. Overall, the Delta Iota Chapter has developed into a more responsible and involved chapter. Our members took part in many Panhellenic events and represented Kappa to the best of their ability. Within our chapter, involvement has increased greatly. As a chapter, we are looking forward to the future, learning from our past, and making the Delta Iota chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma a highly respected and responsible chapter, both nationally and locally.

Besides all of our campus involvements, the Delta Iota chapter has continued it's tradition of emphasizing the importance of philanthropy. This November, Kappa hosted a Parent's Cocktail Silent Auction and the 26th Annual Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament, raising money for The Rose McGill Foundation and The St. Jude's Dream Day Foundation. We anticipate that these events raised over $50,000.
Members of Delta Iota get to see the result of our hard work by attending Dream Day's Fishin' Galore every Spring, where patients spend a fun-filled, carnival themed day with their families in Clinton, LA. Delta Iota hosted our Sixth Annual Kappa Krawfish Panhellenic event, where we raised $15,000 for our National Philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental, and $3,000 for Rose McGill Aid in loving memory of our sister, Megan Rogers. Our Spring Reading is Key Event was held at Wildwood Elementary School, and all 550 students at the school got to go home with a book! Our Fall Reading is Key Event was held especially for victims of the Great Flood of 2016 at Claiborne Elementary School, which merged with Howell Park Elementary School, due to flooding at Howell Park.
With the generous support from Kappa chapters across the county, this Reading is Key Event was our largest ever! We donated over 1,000 books to the school. With 328 members, Delta Iota has been growing and excelling at LSU. Our members are required to be involved in other organizations and participate in volunteer work. Some members volunteer at hospitals and animal shelters, while others are involved in the Tiger Athletic Foundation. Delta Iota has participated in Greek Week at LSU, which is a week dedicated to Habitat for Humanity. All the sororities and fraternities come together to raise money and build two houses for the less fortunate in Baton Rouge.
This year, our officers went to Atlanta for Convention, where we were honored to receive awards for Risk Management and the Kappa Foundation. We also received honorable mention for Standards, Gracious Living, and Philanthropy. From LSU, we also won the Outstanding Chapter for Order of Omega award. This past year has been an exciting year for the Delta Iota chapter and we look forward to another fantastic year.
Louisiana State University has become a nationally recognized college, ranked as a top tier university on the national rank. In August 2016, a historic flood hit Baton Rouge, LA, postponing LSU’s recruitment. As a result, recruitment occurred during the first week of school.
This fall, LSU welcomed a new sorority on campus, Alpha Delta Pi. We were so excited to have a new addition to sorority row! Overall, the Delta Iota Chapter has developed into a more responsible and involved chapter. Our members took part in many Panhellenic events and represented Kappa to the best of their ability. The founder of the Dream Day Foundation, Marty Engquist, is a Delta Iota alum. Every year, for Reading is Key, we select a local, underprivileged elementary school to donate books and host our Reading is Key Event.

Some members volunteer at hospitals and animal shelters, while others are involved in the Tiger Athletic Foundation or spend their time tutoring. Within the past year, there have been some new changes and updates to Louisiana State University's campus. Some of these include: Patrick F. Taylor Hall's construction completed on campus; the University Recreation Center has been renovated to include one of the largest indoor tracks in the nation; and a facelift has been completed to the outside of Middleton Library. Greekwise, there have been major changes to a Fraternity incident on campus last fall. Tailgating for the Tigers will not be the same, and Greek tailgates now will be held inside their fraternity houses instead of the Parade Grounds. Safety across campus has been increased overall, with better lighting and more officers present on campus. As a chapter, we are looking forward to the future, learning from our past, and making the Delta Iota chapter a highly respected and responsible chapter, both nationally and locally.

Delta Iota chapter has continued its tradition of emphasizing importance on philanthropy. Delta Iota supported the philanthropies of other chapters on camps including Tri Delta's Desserts to benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and Cheesy with DG, and Phi Mu Phright Night. We also put on our own blood drive with Sigma Nu. Delta Iota has raised the most money of all Kappa organizations worldwide. Kappa hosted the Kappa Klassic this past Spring of 2017 raising around $54,000 and also had it in the Fall of 2017, and raised about $60,000 for St Jude's Children's Hospital Dream Day Foundation. Members of our chapter got to see how our hard work paid off by attending the Dream Day event, where patients spent a fun-filled, carnival-themed day in Baton Rouge. We also put on a silent auction for the Kappa Foundation in the spring of 2017 while raising $5,454 and in the fall of 2017 we raised around $4,000. Delta Iota hosts the largest Panhellenic event called Kappa Krawfish where we raised money for our other philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental, by providing crawfish and live music.
Our chapter supports St. Jude's Children's Hospital because we believe that these children deserve the chance to receive the treatment that they need. While these families already have to deal with the struggles that come with sickness, we attempt to alleviate financial issues by donating our philanthropic funds. Kappa Kappa Gamma also supports Reading is Fundamental because this program benefits the children that are here in our own community. We donate money and books to the children at underdeveloped schools. Members of our chapter visit these schools and have one-on-one time to meet and interact with the children to whom these books are going. It is so rewarding to see where our money is going and how much joy it brings to the children and their families.

With around 300 members total as of our Fall 2018 recruitment, Delta Iota has been growing and excelling at LSU. Our members are required to be involved in other organizations and/or volunteer work. Some members volunteer at hospitals and animal shelters, while others are involved in the Tiger Athletic Foundation or Best Buddies. One of our members, Margaret Bourg, was elected as Secretary of LSU’s Executive Panhellenic Council. Delta Iota also participated in Greek Week at LSU, which is a week dedicated to Habitat for Humanity, where every chapter raises money and then comes together to build two houses for the less fortunate in Baton Rouge. Kappa won numerous awards, including Outstanding Chapter for Order of Omega. This past year has been an exciting year for the Delta Iota chapter and we look forward to another fantastic year.
Within the past year, there has been some new changes and updates to Louisiana State University's campus. Some of these include: the opening of new restaurants on campus, including City Pork and the renovation of the Memorial Bell Tower. Greek wise, there has been major changes due to a fraternity incident on campus that occurred in the fall of 2017. Rather than tailgating during football season taking place on the Parade Grounds, it took place inside of the fraternity houses for the first half of the season, and it then moved to outside of the houses. Safety campus wide as been increased overall with better lighting and officers present on campus as well. For Delta Iota, we remain with roughly 300 members. Our members took part in multiple Panhellenic events down sorority row and our chapter is involved on campus with continuing to grow daily. As a chapter, we are looking forward to the future, learning from our past, and making the Delta Iota chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma a highly respected and responsible chapter, both nationally and locally.

Taylor Hal, University Recreation Center has been renovated, to include the largest track in the nation. There has also been improvements to Middleton Library and Spruce Hall, Business Education Complex, a new band hall, construction and betterment of new and existing dorms, and the amplification of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Our chapter is also excited to build a new sorority house on campus this summer. This coming May in 2019, our current house will be torn down. Over the course of the 2019 academic year, we will build a beautiful, new house. This means that many changes will take place during the next academic year, including finding a new place to hold our weekly chapter meetings and Fall Recruitment of 2019. In these past months, our members took part in many Panhellenic events and represented Kappa to the best of their ability. One way of implementing this involvement has been a requirement of our members to participate in at least two Panhellenic events down the row.

==Highlights of 2019==
Our Chapter President, Dani Hebert received the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation Scholarship this past year. Anna Duplechin and Helen Mason recieved the LSU Accounting Scholarship. Sarah Crump, Mary Oliver, and Rainey Charbonnet were elected to the Interior Design Club executive board. Caroline Mitchell received the Kappa Kappa Gamma Scholarship. Anna Huthnance received the Ruth Vordenbaumen Award. Elizabeth Cole received the NWLA SHRM Scholarship. We participated in a tradition we have had here at LSU with Phi Beta Phi called "Monmouth" where we do a friendly field day competition. Our goal was to put on a successful recruitment and get a great pledge class. WE are in a temporary house, while our new Kappa house is being built, and we did a great job and reached our goal. We had a few girls attend the convention in Atlanta with one of our advisors.
The recent changes on campus include the new instated rule of no hard alcohol at Greek life
events. Since there was a death of a fellow Greek like fraternity member on LSU's campus,
this rule has been in place. There is also a new hazing policy and there is a zero tolerance for hazing on
LSU's campus. The chapter's overall nature is cooperative with these new rules in place
and we understand why these are important rules to keep all of Greek life safe.
The Delta Iota chapter supports the St. Jude's Dream Day Foundation. We choose to support this because the
co-founder Ms. Marty, was an LSU Kappa herself. We help put on an event on her farm in Clinton, Louisiana for St. Jude's patients and their Families.
To celebrate Founders Day this year, we rented the ballroom at the student union and had a sit down catered lunch. The whole chapter, our House Mom, and advisors come to celebrate Founders Day! We ate lunch and then we had a short reading about the Founders (Chapter council members read the parts of the Founders). This year we started the tradition of giving an award for each founder and the girl who receives it is someone who embodies their attributes. We also honor all of our members who got a 4.0 GPA or higher in the previous semester. We kicked off the sesquicentennial, 150th anniversary at Founders Day this year. There will be more celebrations to come next year from the new Executive Board, as our chapter pilots the new officer structure for the Fraternity.
==Highlights of 2020s==
Spring 2020 was an exciting and unpredictable one. Members were able to enjoy our spring formal on February 14th and participated in exchanges before the chapter and university closed due to the pandemic. Following the closure of the University and Delta Iota, communication became even more important than before with meetings and classes being conducted virtually. The summer also proved challenging as it was unclear what the formal recruitment process would look like until the University’s Panhellenic office decided to make the shift to a totally virtual recruitment. Although many things were done differently, the spirit of Kappa remained the same this fall. Some of the major activities held included virtual recruitment, bid day, virtual initiation and ritual ceremonies, “pod” events, and the excitement of a brand new house! Despite the roadblocks put in our path, Delta Iota has worked hard to excel in academics, sisterhood, communication, and Panhellenic involvement, which we hope to continue and to put to use once we are able to return to normal. Our “pod” events were used as a replacement to larger sisterhood events due to in person limits of 10 people. These “pods” were available to all and allowed members from different member classes to interact in ways they may not have been able to before, such as, going bowling, getting manicures, carving pumpkins or just grabbing dinner and a movie! Women from all four member classes stepped up as pod leaders and organized an event each week with a given budget. These events allowed for deeper connections between different ages to be made due to the more intimate group sizes and all those who participated enjoyed attending these events! Hosting virtual events proved to be a challenge at first but was managed with grace. Chapter President, Grace Gardere ’17 and Primary Recruitment Director, Alyssa Bellelo ‘17, had the opportunity to put on Delta Iota’s first virtual recruitment and get our chapter’s largest new member class of 106 impressive new Kappa women! Our Ritual and History Director, Reese Kelso ’18 and Founders Day Coordinator, Anna Harris ‘18, worked together to host a ‘Which Kappa Founding Member Are You? Founders Day raffle and celebrate Kappa’s 150 year anniversary. The two also planned and coordinated Delta Iota’s first ever virtual initiation, successfully initiating 104 New Members in a new way, while maintaining the beauty and integrity of an in person ritual ceremony. The chapter was incredibly eager to see the new house and those that currently live in the house were anticipating move-in day all summer! The house not only meets, but exceeds the Chapter’s needs; it is spacious, elegant, functional, and Delta Iota is so grateful that we get to call it our home. Although we were not able to have large groups come to the house this year for sisterhood events or chapter meetings, we look forward to hosting these at the house in the future. Academically, the chapter continues to improve. The current chapter GPA is 3.718, which is higher than the All-Sorority and LSU All-Women GPA averages. Our members received a variety of internships and scholarships over a wide range of disciplines as well. COVID may have changed the way the chapter operates, but Delta Iota took this chaos and improved in spite of a hectic year.
Delta Iota chose to support the St. Jude’s Dream Day Foundation because the co-founder Ms. Marty, was an LSU Kappa and the Chapter enjoys supporting her Foundation. We help put on an event at her farm in Clinton, Louisiana each year for St. Jude's patients and their families called “Dream Day”.
Delta Iota added a DEI officer, Karen Assenga, to inform and promote the chapter’s members on this topic. Karen has done an exceptional job covering topics such as: cultural appropriation, bias, and prejudice. She is knowledgeable and approachable and has improved Delta Iota’s knowledge about DEI. We look forward to seeing how this position continues to teach the chapter and help us grow more by upholding values of inclusion, celebrating diversity and ensuring equity.
This year we held an informative session with facts about our Founders and held a Founding Member themed raffle. We also celebrated by looking at pictures from alumnae of Delta Iota. Founders Day was the largest celebration of our Sesquicentennial.
==Highlights of 2021==
Delta Iota supports the St. Jude’s Dream Day Foundation who sponsors an annual Fishin’ Galore Day right here in south Louisiana. This organization was founded by a Delta Iota Kappa and we are happy to continue to support and attend the event each Spring!
Delta Iota donated a third of its fundraisings from the Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament to the KKG Foundation and another third to Mental Health America. We look forward to exploring the opportunities our new Fraternity Philanthropy brings to us in the upcoming spring semester.
In the Spring of 2021, we held a chapter wide DEI Programming event that was very informative on properly including diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in our chapter events, as well as our in individual lifestyles. This fall we changed our DEI chair into a slated Director position and Peyton Harvey was elected as our first ever DEI Director in December of 2021.
