Sesquicentennial Celebration:  We are so excited to celebrate 150 years of Kappa next year.  We plan to have a big celebration to talk about all the historical events that took place leading to Kappa's founding. We will also be following and keeping in touch with Karen Burholder Nichols, a Zeta Mu sister who will be traveling on the Minnie Stewart Van.

for chapter meetings and had several sisterhood events held at the house. In the spring of

2021, we initiated 78 new members. In the fall of 2021 we initiated 7 new members into the

chapter. We recently started supporting the JED foundation and NAMI. This new

philanthropy focused on mental health allows our sisters to bond more closely than before.

We are constantly involved and participate in the other panhellenic philanthropies and have

NAMI and The JED foundation which were voted on by our chapter. The chapter voted on

these organizations to support in our philanthropy efforts because of the resources that they

Philanthropy for our chapter and other organizations on campus were vastly different than

they usually are. Things were moved online and we were unable to conduct in person events.

Operating in a Pandemic

In the spring of 2021, there was a big adjustment to life online with an entirely virtual

recruitment, initiation, and virtual chapters. Switching from online classes to in person

classes in the fall of 2021 was a big change for the students at Virginia Tech, there was a new

culture surrounding the campus as we returned to normalcy. As a chapter this allowed us to

have in person sisterhood events, where we would hold movie nights at the house, or even

go mini golfing.
